The Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for guidance, standards, resources, and metrics related to the practices and management of projects. The PMO oversees the development of procedures and best practices that will help college operations to:

  • Implement project management methodologies college-wide.
  • Provide education pathways for more people to learn project management.
  • Enhance project execution and increase operational efficiency at every level.
  • Successfully onboard and utilize professional tools and digital resources for project management.
  • Complete projects on time that result in quality deliverables.
  • Facilitate and improve strategic project management methodologies.
  • Provide visibility to the college and university regarding projects across the organization.
  • Oversee key strategic projects and create a college-wide culture for project management for all other projects.

 

The PMO will provide guidance on industry-standard project management methodologies by providing best practices, digital resources, education on methodologies and tools, and actionable plans that provide standards for undertaking projects in a structured and repeatable way. The PMO will focus on the successful completion of projects and monitoring the impact and effectiveness of the procedures they outline.

Project Management Collaboration

The PMO works collaboratively with senior leadership and across business units to align strategies for project management.

The PMO works collaboratively with the Office of Strategic Management on strategic projects including:

  • Identifying projects to accomplish key strategic initiatives.
  • Managing key strategic projects identified in the strategic plan.
  • Providing communications and status report updates on strategic projects.
  • Optimizing operational planning and other efficiencies with the Director of Operations.

The PMO works collaboratively on accreditation projects including:

  • Serve as the project manager for all accreditation related projects.
  • Liaison with leadership and collaborate on the CQI process
  • Performing work to complete accreditation projects.

The PMO works collaboratively with the Office of Technology on projects including:

  • Providing guidance on the creation of digital resources for project management templates.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for education and training for learning project management best practices and technology tools.
  • Working with the Technology Project Manager for technology related activities.
  • Providing content for website for communicating project information, status, and other resources.

Project Management Deliverables

Proposed project management deliverables for 2023 include:

  • Finalize Project Manager position description and fill position.
  • Draft guidance on project management process and disseminate to stakeholders.
  • Develop learning pathways to provide education opportunities that will expand the project management culture at the college.
  • Identify key strategic projects and create a schedule of important dates and milestones.
  • Launch key strategic projects and evaluate process and resources.
  • Publish project management information website.
